Rainwater Management

Rainwater is one option in the search for new sources of water. Extremely dry periods occur regularly, alternating with extremely wet periods. It is therefore important to prepare your water system for both extremes. A rainwater study can provide a very specific answer to your specific question.

In many countries, separate sewer systems are also provided or legislation is imposed requiring local water infiltration. Finding tailor-made curative or preventive solutions for this is what we do. It is sometimes a necessary part of obtaining a permit to construct a building.

Finally, there is an increasing focus on water sharing. In industrial estates, for example, centralising all water collection and then redistributing it to the largest water consumers is sometimes even incentivised by governments.

Case study

Economical impact

Rainwater sometimes falls from the sky in buckets. For free. Not using it in your system would be illogical. Tap water, on the other hand, comes at a cost, which will only increase in the future. In addition, the quality is often very good for a number of applications, and purifying such water is not that difficult.

However, given the water shortage and the way the legislator deals with it, permits are often scrutinised in detail to see how the “rain problem” will be tackled. The economic gains lie mainly in this. You will get your permit much faster if you have a study to support your application.

Ecological & Social Impact

Our mission is to provide drinking water for everyone in the world. That is why our priority is to preserve drinking water for its primary use: drinking. Replacing drinking water with (purified) rainwater for a number of applications in a company therefore contributes to this goal.

The effects of long droughts on local ecosystems are well known. By strategically infiltrating rainwater via wadis, for example, we can delay droughts. On the other hand, excessive rainfall can lead to flooding, even in densely populated areas. We can prevent a great deal of misery by managing rainwater better together.

Finally, by involving Water Experts, you can also indirectly support a good cause. We put 10% of our profits into a fund to provide drinking water in places where they do not have the resources. See WaterHeroes.
